How To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

First, when & why we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

Beannachtai na Feile Padraig! (or Happy St. Patrick’s Day!) As we draw closer to St Patrick’s Day (March 17th), it’s time to start thinking about how to celebrate the life and history of the patron saint of Ireland in the most amazing way possible. Did you know that St. Patrick was born in Roman Britain in the late period of the 4th century, and then was kidnapped and taken to Ireland as a slave. After he escaped slavery, he returned to Ireland around the year 432 CE to convert the Irish to Christianity. He did a lot in his lifetime, and by the time of his death on March 17th, 461, he had established monasteries, churches, and schools in Ireland. Many amazing legends are told about St. Patrick, like how he used the Shamrock to explain to the Holy Trinity, and that he drove all of the snakes out of Ireland. His legacy is celebrated on the anniversary of his death, the 17th of March. Learn more.
